It said on Commitment #2 about changing your pattern. Mine has always been to date unavailable guys, either emotionally, too busy at work or involved with others. I was always at the bottom of the list. I don't think I seek this, they seem available at the beginning, but then it always turns out they are not. I want to stop doing this, but I don't think I am choosing it. Help!

Dating unavailable men is so common, and I understand how frustrating and painful it is. We have many clients who have been locked in this pattern and are working with them to stop it. So, first congratulate yourself on recognizing that there is a problem, this is a major step. Many people don't ever identify what's not working. Now, you said you don't think you are seeking it, but then it keeps happening. I have learned that people subconsciously repeat old patterns possibly from childhood. You somehow inadvertantly are putting yourself in the same situations even though you are not consciously choosing it. You said they seemed available at the beginning, great, but how about when it becomes very clear that they are not? Often, a woman will continually go back in for more thinking this time it will be different or that they have the power to change the situation. This won't happen, so try to identify when this is happening and not lock yourself in the same self-defeating pattern. Sometimes women will tell us that the available ones they meet don't appeal to them. Well, why not give them a chance. They may not be appealling because you may not have to work as hard for their affections. There may be something comfortable in this for you. It takes times to change, but you can and we have seen it happen.
