Too many women conclude after one evening with a man that he isn’t right for them. It's easy to judge and disqualify. But remember, even if there’s a lack of chemistry, a woman can always glean something from the date. She should never shut the door entirely.
Instead, she should ask, could he be a possible career contact? Maybe he could be a new tennis or running partner, or he could invite her to a dinner party or picnic where she might meet someone else? He may have a friend who might be exactly right for her.
The possibilities are endless, so no woman should be too quick to throw a guy away. If nothing else, she may have a single gal pal who might just think he’s the bee’s knees.
Why not give it a shot? Variety is the spice of life, and you cannot judge a book by its cover, after all! That 'unemployed artist' may have a great day job that frees him to be happy and fulfilled with his true love, painting. And if you don't like him as a lover or life partner, you’ll probably have a chance to practice some of the Commitments on him, and to gain a new friend.
Commitment #8 Exercise
Step One—Be open to men from all walks of life. Don’t judge and disqualify based on his resume, for example. His job may not sound prestigious, but he might share values that are more important to you.
Step Two—Consider all kinds of ways to meet different kinds of men. Even blind dates, or Internet dating. Be willing to give it a chance, and trust the judgment of friends or colleagues who want to set you up.
Don’t Forget
As we age we must become more expansive, so expand, don’t contract!
